See Two Important Regulatory Changes You Need to Know - Depend on EFSS for the Most Up to Date Information
1.OSHA recently announced that it would apply the Z359.1-2007 standard requirement for 3600 lbs snaphook gates to employers who still use oler snaphook models with 220/350 lb strength gates. This applies to all lanyard snaphooks and larger pelican hooks. No longer will OSHA tolerate the weak gates that often distort in less than perfect attachment conditions.
2. The ANSI A14.3-2008 has a footnote that calls for testing of ladder climbing protection devices for horizontal thrust. Since the UK has uniquely developed an 8 test standard for ladder safety device horizontal thrust testing with a dummy, users should request that manufacturers provide such testing assurance to be sure that the spate of fatalities of harness wearing tower ladder climbers does not continue.
