Nigel Ellis' third edition of his book " Introduction to Fall Protection " is a much needed reference. It is written in a matter to develop the involvement of architects, deigns engineers, construction managers, superintendents and foreman. Every Safety Engineer or professional now has a ready desk reference to support his fall prevention and protection recommendations. Nigel has with great clarity has developed priorities that address the need to first establish a fall prevention location where a fall cannot occur because the location is free from stumbling or tripping hazards, the surface is non-slip and without an elevation. Fall protection is priority for locations that a fall can be anticipated and with proper devices and systems a fall will never result in injury.

Falls are the principal source of injuries and death, and are caused by a physical condition or circumstance that may not appear to be a hazard. A slight change of circumstance may make a fall possible and if not overcome will cause a fall occur.
